Week 22

The big day has arrived and presentation day is here! We all arrived on time because we remembered Dawn mentioning if you came even a second late you would be able to present.

We were last to present and at this point everyone had left because they didn’t have to stay. So we presented our video to Dawn. If I’m honest I was very disappointed with the video, we produced because I thought it could have been much better if we as a group spent more time on it. I think it was a poor decision to use a PowerPoint with a voice over as the sound quality was very poor having recorded it on our phones.

However, when reflecting on the whole year I think it has been a very good experience working with Man City and in a workplace environment

Week 21

We have reached the penultimate week of the big agency and last minute preparations have begun. Everyone has completed their designated task and it is time to piece them all together and create our video. We decided to create a PowerPoint presentation with a voice over because it was the easiest option. We had wanted to use an app called PowToon, which would’ve been much more professional. However, it didn’t let us access a free trial as a new member so we voted against using it. Once we had pieced together our presentation, we had the difficult task of recording our voices in one straight take.

As predicted there were many outtakes. Eventually we successfully ran through with no errors and it was just now down to putting it behind the PowerPoint and converting it into a video!

Week 20

We all arrived for another independent session, we all worked on our own tasks and slides for the video we needed to produce. My slides consisted of the project plan and whether we achieved it based on what we had predicted at the start of the year. I analyzed the reasons why if we didn’t reach the set deadlines for each section. Below you can see the Project plan I produced at the start of the year and the time schedules set for each task to be completed.PROJECT PLAN

Week 19

The next three weeks are designated for our creative work, so they are much more independent rather than focused sessions. We started by analyzing the data collected from our research. It was very interesting seeing a foreign opinion on England and the premier league as many were proud of their domestic league and Brazilian players. A lot of the respondents said that their favorite player was Gabriel Jesus, which was very good for us as he is Man City’s newest signing and a clear marketing channel to brazil.

I think this was another good week and we are starting to make real progress on our campaign!

Week 18: Assignment Briefing

Unfortunately, I missed the session due to illness but I made sure I had emailed Dawn to let her know I won’t be attending. This would have been a very useful session to attend as well because it was the briefing for our next assignment.

From the slides on moodle I gained a strong understanding as to what was needed and by when. We as a group need to produce a 5-minute video stating what we have done during our time on the project and proposed campaign ideas. There were also many relevant reflective theories which I refreshed my memory of

  • Kolb’s Learning Cycle
  • Gibbs Reflective Cycle and
  • Schons Reflection in Action/ Reflection on Action

From what I managed to learn from the slides on Moodle, I managed to grasp a much clearer understanding surrounding the assignment.

Week 17: Are you up to date? Creative Work

In again this week and for a rare occasion all members of the group were present! We said we would use this time as a real focus session and make significant progress on our project. This was a very good week; we have received a substantial amount of responses on our questionnaire! We believe this is because of the help we got from both Bex and Dawn with their many contacts.

In the session we spoke about whether we were all up to date with our work, thankfully the high level of responses allowed us to progress onto the analytical stage. We later moved onto more creative thinking and how we could come up with marketing strategies to help man city reach their target audience. We also drew up a more detailed project plan this week, to give us all a clear focus and mindset as to what we need to have done for the next session.

Week 16: Digital Marketing in 2017

Back to basics and eager as ever. I arrived on time and prepared for the session ahead. Similar to the previous week Dawn couldn’t make it unfortunately so we attended Marks class. We focused on digital marketing and how it is important when networking to people across the world, with 3.41.9 Billion internet users across the world and 2.3 billion active social media users (Slideshare, 2016). This gave me and Dan the idea to create our own twitter page for our project to try and help us reach out to those in Brazil.

As you can see below we have made a twitter account and are actively engaged in relevant topics amongst the Brazilian media and Manchester city.

Week 15: Re-writing the Creative Brief

Unfortunately, I didn’t make this week as I was on holiday in New York for my mother’s birthday.

However, my good mates Alex and Dan came to the rescue and briefed me with what happened in the session.

They told me that that they were in a different tutor group for a change due to dawn being absent. I thought this would have been a good experience to be there to hear new voices and see how others are getting along with their projects.

The main consensus of our work however is not very promising. Alex informed me that we had had some major troubles in gaining responses from Brazil.

From what I understood the main focus of the session was about re-writing the creative brief. When looking over the slides from the session I came across a YouTube video of Mad Men, (a TV series, which I later spent 5 days binge watching) and it described that the best pitches and creative briefs have got to be insightful, emotional and most important of all interesting!

Week 14: Presenting Data and Personas

You know the drill. I arrived on time and was ready for the stand-up meeting. We told the group that we have finally released our survey after weeks of customizing to meet the needs of our target audience. To help us reach our target audience, Bex helped us as she said she had some contacts in Brazil! She tweeted our survey to her thousands of followers on Twitter, which was very beneficial. As well as this, our new Tutor Dawn also said she would speak to a contact she knew at the Salford Uni, who had strong connections with various fan bases across the globe!

Once we had all finished discussing our progress we moved onto the sessions focus. This week’s session focused on data interpretation and the best way to present data. Below is an example of the things we touched upon in session. This found this illustration very helpful as it clearly showed what made a good and bad graph, which will help me when I come to creating graphs from the data we receive from our market research.

We then moved onto personas and how they can be important when segmenting your audience, as not everyone will have the same demographic values.
